Les Cahiers d’histoire sont le fruit d’une coopération entre les universités de Lyon, Grenoble, Chambéry, Saint-Étienne et Avignon. Ils ont pour objectif de produire une histoire critique, une histoire consciente d’elle-même, de ses méthodes, de ses présupposés, soucieuse de son inscription dans son temps, soucieuse de comprendre les rapports de force idéologiques et sociaux qui travaillent ce présent comme ils ont travaillé les temps passés.

Benjamin Christensen’s Häxan (The Witch, 1922) stands as a singular film within the history of cinema. Deftly weaving contemporary scientific analysis and powerfully staged historical scenes of satanic initiation, confession under torture, possession, and persecution, Häxan creatively blends spectacle and argument to provoke a humanist re-evaluation of witchcraft in European history as well as the contemporary treatment of female “hysterics” and the mentally ill. In Realizing the Witch, Baxstrom and Meyers show how Häxan opens a window onto wider debates in the 1920s regarding the relationship of film to scientific evidence, the evolving study of religion from historical and anthropological perspectives, and the complex relations between popular culture, artistic expression, and concepts in medicine and psychology. Häxan is a film that travels along the winding path of art and science rather than between the narrow division of “documentary” and “fiction.”

Revue fondée par Pascal Payen, professeur d'histoire grecque, UT2J Depuis sa naissance en mars 2005, Anabases se veut une revue internationale, transdisciplinaire et comparatiste portant sur la réception et les traditions de l’Antiquité à travers le temps. En bref : qu’advient-il de l’Antiquité après l’Antiquité ? La démarche interculturelle – qui est à la base des problématiques de l’équipe É.R.A.S.M.E. – sous-tend une perspective transversale dans trois registres d’analyse : 1) entre disciplines, comme l’histoire, la philosophie, les littératures, l’archéologie, les sciences politiques ; 2) entre aires culturelles touchant la Méditerranée, l’Europe, le Proche-Orient et le Moyen-Orient ; 3) entre périodes, depuis l’Antiquité jusqu’au très contemporain.

Fondée en 2005, e-Storia. Les Cahiers de Framespa est une revue d’histoire éditée par l'UMR 5136 (Université Toulouse - Jean Jaurès / CNRS). Elle se propose d'analyser dans leurs dynamiques les sociétés depuis le Moyen Âge jusqu’à nos jours, en privilégiant le croisement des approches et l’ouverture vers d’autres sciences humaines et sociales. La revue publie des contributions en français, en anglais, en espagnol et en portugais.

The encounter of Occident and Orient is one of the major topics of our time. This encounter is the theme of the present volume in regards to the Palestinian realm from 1799 to 1948. The contributions of twelve authors from Germany, France, Israel, Italy, Austria, Russia, and Switzerland are concerned with a period in which the ordinary interest for the land of the Bible and Christian history was connected to a much greater cultural and political discourse, which was not only carried out by the western churches, but also by European societies in general. In nineteenth- and early twentieth-century Palestine, many forces were at work; from 1516/17 Palestine belonged to the Ottoman Empire. Beginning in the nineteenth century, especially after 1840, this small territory became an issue for world politics. The maintenance of the integrity of the Ottoman Empire constituted one of the guidelines of the European powers.
